The Artwork: 'FUNGUS ROCK'
Fungus Rock, situated off the coast of Gozo, Malta, is a striking natural landmark steeped in history and legend. This towering limestone rock formation rises majestically from the azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea. It earned its name from a rare species of dark green moss, the Cynomorium coccineum, once believed to have medicinal properties. Accessible only by boat, Fungus Rock captivates visitors with its rugged beauty and intriguing folklore. The unique angle visible in the image is facing westwards from the sea. How These Artworks Are Made
Each of these intricate copper etchings is handcrafted through a meticulous process that involves coating a copper plate with a resist, then carefully engraving the design before immersing it in an acid bath. This process, known as etching, allows for the creation of detailed and unique prints. The plate is then inked and pressed onto high-quality paper using an etching press, resulting in a stunning piece of art.
