Cactus jewellery, a pair of earrings in bright emerald green with a little blue-ish hue, made from the dried fibres of prickly pear cactus plant. The natural fibre holes are highlighted with copper colour. Assembled with our hand-made solid copper earring hooks.
Care instructions
Although the dried fibre goes through a several-step process to make them sturdy and durable, yet due to the delicate structure of the cactus skeleton this jewellery is required to be treated with care. If you do so, you will be able to enjoy wearing your unique natural jewellery for long-long time.
We recommend not to wear them in the bath, shower, rain, or during swimming, sleeping, and exercise.
Please avoid hitting the pendant with a force, because although the cactus fibre is treated to make it sturdy, yet it’s still breakable if force or pressure is applied.
The copper hook is hardened, so it retains its shape well, but since it is a relatively thin material, please be careful, do not put too much force on it as it could be bended if it gets too much pressure.
Natural copper can tarnish in time, it is the nature of copper. It means that in time it’s colour will darken. If you prefer to keep its original bright shiny surface, please follow our instructions below under the ‘Cleaning’ section.
Please store them in a dry place. If the humidity level in your home is high, we recommend storing them in a closed jewellery box, or the packaging box we provide with each purchase.
For any kind of transportation – like when travelling for a holiday – we also recommend you use the original box of the jewellery, as it offers a safe protection for them.
Cleaning:
Pendant can be cleaned gently with a soft brush, withouth use of water, or a microfibre cloth, slightly damp if needed, then pat dry with a dry soft cloth very gently.
Cleaning of metal parts of earrings: if needed, you can gently and carefully clean the metal parts with a toothbrush dipped in lukewarm soapy water, but please avoid soaking the cactus fibre pendant. Then pat dry the cleaned parts. To remove tarnish from the metal parts you can soak them in ketchup in a way that the pendant is not put in the ketchup (you can lay the earrings flat on a plate, and put ketchup on the metal parts, leaving the pendant clean). Leave it like this for about 30 minutes, then brush it with a toothbrush, and rinse it under lukewarm water, with the help of a toothbrush if needed, without soaking the pendant. If needed, you can rub the surface of the copper with some lemon juice and salt, between your fingers. Then rinse again and pat dry with a soft cloth.
